6 Simple Things That Brings Holistic Happiness

In my Scandinavian, nature-loving opinion, that is.

You can almost smell it, right? That firewood and the crackling sound that comes with it. There’s something about the simpleness of gathering around a bonfire. That’s my first one on my short list, and probably my favorite.

If you’re handy, it doesn’t take much. Some wood and a match to lit the fire. And then maybe some marshmallows or hotdogs.

For me, a bonfire, whether it’s in the woods, on the beach, or in someone’s backyard, is all about nature and the beauty of small things. There are few things more real and authentic than a fire. Gathering around one tends to bring fun conversations. It’s all about the social aspect and being in nature, together.

My kids love running around in leaves. Throwing them up in the air. Rolling back and forth in them.

Every fall when the leaves start falling to the ground, I can’t help myself snapping a photo of my shoes + the colorful, often orange, leaves. Sometimes the picture finds its way to Instagram, even. Yes, I know there are millions of snapshots just like it.

Running around in leaves doesn’t cost a cent, and seeing the joy on my kids’ faces when they do so is priceless. They don’t need fancy toys or exclusive trips. A forest or a park…
