Magic of Journaling

During my adolescent years, I simply knew of my thoughts to be ever-so powerful that they could drive an entire movement. Each and every reflection into my chaotic mind seemed worthy of attention and action.

Here I am 15 years away, still edging to endlessly explore the new. It’s an amazing trait to have, as I always seem to find my growth somewhere within the possibilities. On the flip side, I have observed that so many of creative projects have not seen fruition, as I moved past them so quickly. In these instances, the power from my thoughts seemed to be amiss. The power and passion that could sustain itself.

Brain Dump — Pour thoughts for 5 minutes straight.
Take out actionable tasks that are masking behind emotions.

After trying many different methodologies to work on this issue at hand, Journaling, also commonly known as the method of brain dump, has come to my rescue. When I haplessly pour my idiosyncratic and unsynchronized thoughts on the paper, without any judgement and without any edits, it becomes easier to draw out a framework of things that are really bothering my soul at the core and need immediate attention, without the clutter of other must-dos, can’t-dos and how-to-dos.

I recommend this exercise to anyone who has been feeling stuck in cyclical thoughts and fear, leading to inaction of sorts. I did this exercise for two weeks in a row, everyday and noticed a substantial difference in the quality of work produced throughout the day. It’s amazing! Try it. It takes nothing, but willingness! :)
